2019 - Out of Frequency (Solo Acoustic)

Métis singer-songwriter Fabian Villeneuve created Out of Frequency in 2019. Originally a folk-alternative project, it was solely acoustic. Fabian performed through the Métis Nation Saskatchewan live streams during the COVID pandemic and began reintegrating into live coffeehouse performances around the Saskatoon area.

Gaining an online following through social media, he released the single "In This World of the Other," produced by Sask award-winning producer Matt Stinn of Rainy Day Recording Co. The record was released on January 15, 2021, and made available on all media platforms. Independently promoted through community performances with the Prince Albert Métis Women's Group and a live performance on Telemiracle 45, it earned success and recognition from MBC radio and CBC radio. The "Trials" EP was released on November 21, 2021. Produced again by Matt Stinn (mixing) and Colin Klassen (mastering), the album was supported by the Saskatchewan music scene and gained recognition in a CBC News article, "12 Sask. Musicians Changing the Sound of the Province." Fabian continued performing independently through hired and charity gigs from 2022 to 2023.

2023 - Out of Frequency (Rock Group)

In July 2023, Out of Frequency evolved into a collaborative project with additional hired members from Sask. progressive metal-core band "In Ruin": Patrick Rocheleau (percussion) and Austin Striemer (backing vocals/bass). With the progression of weekly rehearsals, Fabian (vocalist/guitarist) considers this change to be a great improvement, transforming from acoustic folk-alternative to rock with elements of rock-alternative, punk, and hard rock.

"She Owns The Night" (released on May 3, 2024, with a music video released on April 10, 2024), the first song written collectively as a group; high distortion ~ hard rock energy with an homage to the Nicholas Cage cult film “Vampire’s Kiss”. She Owns the Night is about falling in love with someone so much that it makes you go crazy! As well there is slight nods to our hometown - the City of Saskatoon, shown in the artwork and heard in lyrics snag. We’re forever grateful to the lovely hardworking and talented people who have taken an opportunity on us as individuals and artists to expand our crafts and flourish it into what is “She Owns the Night” and undeniably “Enemies We Make & Lovers Left Behind”. "Twisted Game" will be the next single (to be released on July 1, 2024). Both singles will tie into the release of their new album, scheduled for release on August 10, 2024.

"Enemies We Make & Lovers Left Behind" began its writing process at the end of July 2023 with the hiring of Austin Striemer (bassist) and Patrick Rocheleau (drums). Before this, Out of Frequency, aka Fabian Villeneuve, was a folk-alternative group.  After the first rehearsal, it became clear that the question on everyone's mind was "Can we add distortion?" This immediately refocused efforts on rebranding into a high-energy rock group inspired by Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, and the Hives. With the band's direction set and the artists on board, the newly formed collaborative completed writing 20 songs in just 3 months. They then played personal gigs and arranged shows in Prince Albert, Blaine Lake, and Saskatoon.

Out of Frequency's new sophomore album, "Enemies We Make & Lovers Left Behind," has drastically changed genre, sound, and storytelling compared to "Trials." Fabian stated, "This is the new era of Out of Frequency: it's now a collective. Yes, it's a complete personality switch and a genuine refresher. It needed to become something different and louder."

"Enemies We Make & Lovers Left Behind" is a high-energy, high-distortion classic punk rock album inspired by the struggles of adulthood, frustrations with government rule, and the current cost-of-living crisis. Tied in with satirical lyrics and catchy riffs, it promises to be a great listen from start to finish.

Record Label and Management

With this change also comes great opportunities; on November 20, 2023: Out Of Frequency signed with independent label “Remedy Music Label” located in Saskatoon, SK. “Christine Johnston is a genuine individual who believes in local artistry and allowing the artists to be their authentic selves, through Remedy’s dedication to ensuring that the local artists have the supports necessary to flourish creatively and as well as advocating for their mental health, this is why we chose Remedy.” - Austin Striemer. New merchandise being discussed with their clothing endorsement “Kicks N Fits”, the band will begin production of their album “Enemies We Make/Lovers Left Behind” set to be released on August 10, 2024; directly after their western tour, starting on July 22, 2024.The journey is far from over - the bands interest is longevity and having future growth; April 5/2024; Out Of Frequency signed a management contract with Step One Music Corporation, having CEO Marc Blain representing the group. “Marc Blain is a very driven businessman and passionate humanitarian through his efforts supporting mental health and addictions services through Step One. He intrigued me, his drive was very similar to mine. He knew what our our abilities were as musician, he made it clear he believed in us and our vision. Inspiring us to build connections and opportunities within community of Saskatoon. With hard-work and determination, were striving for greatness and were proud to have Marc on our team.” - Fabian Villeneuve

What's my creative process: have an open mind to other genres when creating music  - a hidden gem could trigger your writing capability.
