Bio

“Once we completed our first rehearsal, it became very clear that we needed to approach this project with a much louder and energetic sound. I immediately went to the music shop and bought myself an electric guitar and amplifier that day.” - Fabian Villeneuve

Out Of Frequency was destined to evolve. In July of 2023, Fabian Villeneuve (lead singer/guitarist) hired previous known performers and friends from Saskatchewan - a progressive metal-core band “In Ruin”: Patrick Rocheleau (percussion) and Austin Striemer (bass/backing vocalist). With the progression of weekly rehearsals, Fabian regarded the change in sound as a significantly required enhancement, evolving from acoustic folk-alternative to an experimental rock trio with influential elements of punk alternative, hard rock, and metal. With the band’s direction established and the new members on board, the newly formed collaboration successfully composed 20 songs within a mere three months.

2024 was an ecstatic year for this experimental rock trio. Out Of Frequency has no direct plan for their methods of madness while working full time jobs and supporting their families, the band continually hopped in their vehicles when available to perform shows like hungry pioneers, looking for new opportunities in their first year together.

Once signed to Saskatoon Record Label Remedy Music November 20, 2023, the band produced their sophomore album “Enemies We Make And Lovers Left Behind,” and began promoting it across the western provinces.  Through hard work and determination, OOF was awarded the Remedy Music Label 2024 Artist of the Year at LB Distillers in Saskatoon on October 25, 2024.

What the best advise to give to other musicians?: Positive belief in yourself, hard work and determination are factors that play a role in striving for what you want in life.  No matter how impractical your goals may be, it’s about knowing your strengths and embracing your potential for greatness.

What's my creative process: Have an open mind to other genres when creating music – a hidden gem could trigger your writing capabilities.  - a hidden gem could trigger your writing capability. Also when working with a band, just throw out a riff and get your band to continue it - all of our writing has been freeform performing. I chose to work with very talented like minded artists, just lucky to call them my friends.

Favorite track to perform: Wish You Well, I wanted to write a folk song with influence from The Misfits. I love punk so much.

While performing live and releasing new content, the band received strong support from the local community that included funding for their punk driven sophomore album “Enemies We Make and Lovers Left Behind” (Released on digital download on July 1, 2024), and an official music video “Twisted Game” (Released on You Tube on Nov 15, 2024).

Saskatoon Rock Station Rock 102FM also assisted in promoting multiple tracks during their Hometown Rock segments, releasing the first single “She Owns The Night” a week early prior to it’s digital release.

“Enemies We Make and Lovers Left Behind” is a high-energy, heavy distorted–classic punk rock album inspired by the struggles of adulthood, frustrations with the government, and the current cost-of-living crisis. Tied in with satirical lyrics and catchy riffs, it promises to be a great listen from start to finish.

She Owns The Night" was released on May 3, 2024; including a music video released on April 10, 2024. She Owns The Night is the first song written collectively as a group; through high distortion and 90s punk rock energy with an homage to the Nicholas Cage cult film “Vampire’s Kiss.” The Owns the Night is about falling in love with someone so much that it makes you go crazy! As well, there is a slight nod to our hometown of Saskatoon shown in the artwork, and heard in the lyrics sung.
